Neesha Mistry and their map

Hi I'm...

Neesha

My job at Luckies involves...

Junior Designer – special projects and core range

My favourite Scratch Map is...

Scratch Map Deluxe Edition. Overall I like the simplicity of the map, it’s a step up from the original and I’m a big fan of the black and gold colour scheme, it makes the map look a bit more premium. I also like the composition and bright colours included on the base layer of the legend, the facts and details are really interesting too!

My most embarrassing/funniest travel story is...

Whilst in Mombasa, Kenya I stayed at a popular tourist destination in a hotel that overlooked the sea. Unfortunately, one day I woke up with lots of bites and a terrible skin reaction; to make it better I thought a dip in the salty sea water would help - however, I got stung by a jelly fish!

I have some very distant relatives that live out in Mombasa, and they thought they’d visit to check up on me. Little did I know that they practiced black magic! They put me in a room and began the ‘healing’ process. They shouted various colours at me and waved their hands around whilst my brothers stood at the other end of the room laughing hysterically. They were convinced they had fixed me (but also recommended that I should take the medication the doctor had given me earlier on in the day). This was by far the strangest experience of my life!

My favourite travel photo I’ve taken is...

In Tsavo East National Park in Kenya, I managed to get a shot of a giraffe with Mt Kilimanjaro in the distance.

My best travel hack/accessory is...

Drink lots of Gin and Tonic before going to a place that has lots of Mosquito’s – the tonic water helps to build up your immunity (and the gin just gets you merry).

The next item off my travel bucket list will be...

I want to travel to at least one country in every continent, so far I’ve seen parts of North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. I’d love to go to South America next!

The best place I've ever been to is...

Kenya - it's where my Mum grew up, so it was nice watching her go back there for the first time in 40 years and learn about my own family heritage. Going on a proper African safari was also really exciting, I got to see elephants, lions and cheetah's in their natural envioronment. We stayed in lodges out in the wild, under the biggest stars I have ever seen - and it was nice being disconnected from the outside world.

My dream travel destination is...

Peru – I really want to walk the Inca trail to Machu Picchu.
